Last weekend, the inside of the Dawson County High School Performing Arts Center was alive with bright colors, disco music and smiling faces as students in the high school’s drama department put on a production of “Mamma Mia!”.

Modeled after the 2008 movie, the play followed the story of Donna and her daughter Sophie, who invites several men from her mother’s past to her wedding in order to try to figure out who her father is. Showings took place on March 2 through 5 and featured a cast and crew of nearly 50 students, the largest that DCHS has had in awhile, according to director Maggie Ellis.

After the cast took their bows at the end of the show, Ellis came back out on the stage and asked the students in the cast and crew who are seniors at DCHS and will be graduating in the spring to stay onstage and have one “last dance” to the beloved ABBA hit “Dancing Queen” in celebration of their high school careers and all of the productions they had each participated in during their time at DCHS.
