From now through Feb. 19, the Bowen Center for the Arts in Dawson County is hosting a photography exhibit from Dawsonville resident and former Bowen Board Member Tom Reed.
According to a release by the Bowen, the photographic display includes over 40 pieces which span 30 years of works by Reed.
“Tom graduated from Southeast Center for Photographic Studies in Daytona Beach, FL back in the days of film and wet darkrooms,” the release said. “He then worked at a variety of photography jobs, mainly in the audio/visual business when slide shows were done with multiple projectors.”
Reed worked for 25 years as the chief photographer at the Gainesville Times, where he covered every type of assignment including sports, spot news and features, as well as the World Series and the Olympics. He was also a freelance photographer for NASCAR, covering major races. During his time at The Times, he made the transition to digital photography.
Since retiring, Reed has spent his time working on photography including landscapes and travel photography. He has also had the time to work on a variety of editing and enhancing programs.
Reed’s photography can be viewed on his website at treedphotography.com.
The Bowen Center for the Arts is located at 334 Highway 9 North. Admission is free, and visitor hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m.
