Local reunion to feature food and fellowship

POSTED: March 8, 2017 1:00 a.m.

Dawson County High School graduates from the mid to late 70s are invited to a joint class reunion at the end of March.

"I'm excited about seeing some old friends and having a good time," said Greg Burnette who is from the class of '77.

The reunion will be a joint effort between the classes of 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979.

The event take place from 6:30-10:30 p.m. on Mar. 24 at Cold Creek Farm in Dawsonville and according to organizer Tracey Burnette, it will be catered by the Dawsonville Pool Room.

The classes from DCHS in the late 70s had around 60 or so students each according to Burnette, who hopes to have around 150 in attendance.

"It's a crazy mix of folks," said Tracey who is a 1976 grad. "Some still live here. Obviously a lot of them don't."

She said that former students from those groups have gone on to be teachers, nurses, doctors and businessmen and women and that many of them are now on their way to retirement.

Tracey Burnette will retire from her teaching career at the end of the current school year and said she looks forward to getting back with people she grew up with.

Burnette said it will be a night for fellowship and good food.

Local DJ Spin Sister will provide the entertainment.

Tickets are available through the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce and are $35 each. Cash and credit card are accepted.

A ticket is required to attend the event.
