The Rev. J.W.Day

The Rev. J.W. Day, 68, of Dawsonville, died June 4, 2014.

The Rev. Day was born July 18, 1945 to the late Winfred and Ruby Day.

He had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past 46 years, coming from Forsyth County. A member of Harmony Baptist Church, the Rev. Day had been a minister since 1996 during which time he served as pastor of Etowah Baptist Church. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he owned and operated Day Contractors working in the North Georgia area.

His first wife, Patsy Grant Day; brothers, Lamar Day, Kermit Day; sisters, Christine Daniels, Leonia Day and Ethel Coffer, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Martha Day of Dawsonville; daughters and son-in-law, Paula Green, Tracy and Michael Powers, all of Gainesville; sons and daughter-in-law, James and Patty Day of Dawsonville, B.J. Day of Forsyth County; grandchildren, Justin Green, Josh Green, Devin Powers, Taylor Day; brother, J.R. Day; sisters, Brenda Emmett, Yvonne Cartrette, Lavader Neighbors, Montine Martin; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 8 at Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. John Roden, C.B. Martin, Harold Evans, Butch Garrett, Tony Holtzclaw and Joey Gilbert officiating. Interment followed in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
