A woman who reported she was raped while running on the reservoir trail surrounding Lake Zwerner in Dahlonega late last month has been arrested after Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office investigators found her allegations to be false.

The woman, 19-year-old Rebekah Lim, was arrested at her aparment on June 12 on a felony charge of false statements.

According to a press release from the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office, Lim called 911 on May 24 to report that she had been raped while running on the trail around 7:30 p.m.

The trail was immediately searched for evidence and suspects, however, nothing was discovered. The trail was searched again the next day, and, again, nothing was found.

The release states that not only were investigators unable to locate any evidence, suspects or witnesses to indicate the crime had taken place, evidence including surveillance footage from the Dahlonega square and UNG campus, as well as Lim's cell phone logs showed that the crime could not have possibly taken place as Lim alleged.

"All evidence gained during the investigation showed that [Lim] falsely reported that she had been raped on the reservoir trails and further indicated she was never at, or on, the reservoir trail during the time she alleged the crime had occurred," the report says.

Lim is currently being held at the Lumpkin County Detention Center.

No bond has been set at this time.
