Over the weekend cheerleaders of all ages from TKO Cheer competed in two national competitions and won in multiple categories including a national championship by the Youth Level 2 team and an overall grand championship to qualify for nationals by the Senior 4 division team.
The Lady Tigers soccer team finished the week strong after a tough start away at Forsyth Central that resulted in a 2-0 loss. The Lady Tigers were able to get it done at home on Friday against North Hall with a 3-0 win. Last week's play dropped them one spot to No. 4 in the state in Class AAA.
Dawson County High School's varsity baseball team came away with three wins last week over the reigning Region AAA champs Jefferson High on Friday night and then both Pickens County and Apalachee on Saturday.
Dawson County Senior Brandon Markus signed with Andrew College in Cuthbert, Ga. to play baseball in front of friends, family and coaches. The catcher and outfielder had multiple offers but felt Andrew would suit his goals.
"We don't normally do this but we don't normally have an athlete that excels in multiple sports," said Dawson County High School Athletic Director Grady Turner during the signing for softball player Katelynn Simpson.
