For the first time this season, Riverview Middle School head softball coach Jeff Compton said his team played up to its potential.
"It was very exciting to see the Riverview Eagles play like I know they can play," Compton said.
It was a night of firsts for Dawson County Middle School's football team. Playing in a recently renovated Tiger Stadium the Dawson County Middle School Tigers did something that they have never done before, defeated Riverview Middle School, 14-0.
The Tigers dominated on both sides of the ball.
The Riverview Middle School Eagles are applying the final touches before playing its opening game of the season this Saturday against rival Dawson County Middle School.
The Eagles played in a jamboree last week in Blue Ridge against Fannin and Pickens counties. The scrimmage was the final chance for Head Coach Mark Thomason to take a look at his squad against different competition.
Football is almost here. Cross-county rivals Dawson County and Riverview middle schools will hit the field against each other at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.
"It is a great way to start the season off, playing Saturday in front of a big crowd. It gives the fans an opportunity to see what the future holds for Dawson County football since all of the boys will be playing on the same team in upcoming years," said Dawson County Middle School Tiger Head Coach Thomy Edwards.
Head Riverview softball coach Jeff Compton seemed excited about starting the upcoming 2011 campaign.
Summer passing camps have come and gone for the Riverview Middle School Eagle football team.
The team completed its final passing league July 26 at White County Middle School in Cleveland.
Head Coach Mark Thomason's Riverview Middle School football team traveled to Flowery Branch last week to participate in a Fellowship of Christian Athletes passing camp.
Several local middle school teams took part in the event. The Eagles were able to throw against White County, Union County, West Hall, East Hall, South Hall, Putnam County, Flowery Branch and Chestatee middle schools during the event.
At Riverview Middle School the football team is on a mission.
The Eagles began summer workouts recently and will continue throughout the rest of the summer.

Any seventh or eighth grade girl interested in trying out for the 2011 Riverview Middle School softball team must have with them a parent permission form and an up-to-date physical on the first day of tryouts.

The Dawson County Lady Tigers' seventh grade basketball team played in a basketball league held at the Suwanee Sports Academy in Norcross this past spring. The team played one night a week for 10 weeks and went undefeated.
Members of the team were: Peytan Porter, Summer Vaughn, Ashton Abbott, Karlie Bearden, Haley Burgess, Brittany Griggs, Lauren Burgess and Heather Brady.
The Riverview Middle School Eagle football team completed spring practice with a scrimmage game last week.
The game, originally scheduled for May 13, was played on May 16, due to the threat of inclement weather.
