The Riverview Middle School Eagles are applying the final touches before playing its opening game of the season this Saturday against rival Dawson County Middle School.
The Eagles played in a jamboree last week in Blue Ridge against Fannin and Pickens counties. The scrimmage was the final chance for Head Coach Mark Thomason to take a look at his squad against different competition.
Football is almost here. Cross-county rivals Dawson County and Riverview middle schools will hit the field against each other at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.
"It is a great way to start the season off, playing Saturday in front of a big crowd. It gives the fans an opportunity to see what the future holds for Dawson County football since all of the boys will be playing on the same team in upcoming years," said Dawson County Middle School Tiger Head Coach Thomy Edwards.
Head Coach Mark Thomason's Riverview Middle School football team traveled to Flowery Branch last week to participate in a Fellowship of Christian Athletes passing camp.
Several local middle school teams took part in the event. The Eagles were able to throw against White County, Union County, West Hall, East Hall, South Hall, Putnam County, Flowery Branch and Chestatee middle schools during the event.
