It was a night of firsts for Dawson County Middle School's football team. Playing in a recently renovated Tiger Stadium the Dawson County Middle School Tigers did something that they have never done before, defeated Riverview Middle School, 14-0.
The Riverview Middle School Eagles are applying the final touches before playing its opening game of the season this Saturday against rival Dawson County Middle School.
The Eagles played in a jamboree last week in Blue Ridge against Fannin and Pickens counties. The scrimmage was the final chance for Head Coach Mark Thomason to take a look at his squad against different competition.
Football is almost here. Cross-county rivals Dawson County and Riverview middle schools will hit the field against each other at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.
"It is a great way to start the season off, playing Saturday in front of a big crowd. It gives the fans an opportunity to see what the future holds for Dawson County football since all of the boys will be playing on the same team in upcoming years," said Dawson County Middle School Tiger Head Coach Thomy Edwards.
