Ladies take down Trojans
Dawson County rebounded Friday night, after losing to Buford on Jan. 8, to take a hard fought, 55-51, win over North Hall. The Lady Tigers had to come back after trailing by five points early in the fourth quarter.
Tigers drop two
For the second time in less than four days the Dawson County High School varsity Tigers basketball team faced a worthy opponent. On the schedule this time was a trip to Gainesville to face a tough North Hall Trojan team. The Trojans came into the game with a 14-1 record and a perfect 6-0 record in Region 7-AAA.
Girls defeat Buford
The Dawson County High School junior varsity Lady Tiger basketball team used a strong second half to defeat Buford, 40-38, last week. Dawson County trailed by nine points at halftime, 23-14, of the Jan. 8 game.
Boys lose game
The Dawson County High School junior varsity boys basketball team dropped a, 47-26, decision at North Hall last week. With the loss Dawson County fell to 6-2 on the season.
Teams set to play at Dome on Saturday
The Dawson County High School varsity basketball teams will play at Philips Arena on Saturday against Rabun County High School. Coach Steve Sweat's varsity girls team will play at 1 p.m. and will be followed by the boys game at 2:30 p.m.
Ladies on a streak
The New Year has started out well for Coach Steve Sweat's varsity girls basketball team. The Lady Tigers are riding an 11-game winning streak with a Region 7-AAA, 65-52, win at East Hall last week.
Tigers take down East Hall
Will Anglin hit five three-pointers to lead Dawson County to a 51-43 win at East Hall on Friday. Dawson County remains perfect with a 14-0 record and the Tigers are 4-0 in Region 7-AAA.
Wrestlers finish third
The Dawson County High School wrestling team finished in third place at the Area 3 duals at Woodward Academy last weekend. The Tigers narrowly missed out on a state playoff spot after losing to Woodward, 54-15, and McNair High School, 41-30.
Grapplers win local tourney
Coach Arron Haynes' Dawson County Tiger wrestlers won the team championship at the Amicalola Classic last month at Dawson County High School. The Tigers scored 268 team points to easily outdistance runner-up Chattooga High School who had 197.5 points.
Thirteen named to all-area list
Thirteen Dawson County High School Tiger football players were named to The Times of Gainesville's All-Area football team last week. Leading the selections were fullback and linebacker Zack Martin.
Tigers still on a streak
Coach Thad Burgess' Dawson County High School varsity boys basketball team is continuing its winning ways. The Tigers picked up two big wins recently.
Ladies keep on winning
The Dawson County High School varsity girls basketball team improved its record to 10-1 with an impressive, 59-49, win over Hoke's Bluff, Ala. in the opening round of the Battle of the States tournament at Towns County High School on Dec. 27. Despite playing the early morning game, the Lady Tigers came off the bus on fire.
Two get all-state honorable mention
Dawson County High School senior football players Bruce Clark and Tyler Dominy received huge honors last week. Both Tiger football players were named as honorable mention selectees by the Georgia Sportswriters Association in Class AAA.
JV boys take two
The Dawson County High School junior varsity boys basketball team improved its record to 6-0 last week. The team traveled to play against Woody Gap and came away with a 45-30 win.
Girls improve to 8-0 on season
Dawson County High School junior varsity girls head coach Anne Hyams' Lady Tigers improved their record to 8-0 with a decisive win of West Forsyth last week. Tied at 6-6 after one quarter of play, the Lady Tigers used some stingy defense in the Dec. 20 game to limit West to only one second quarter point.

The Dawson County High School Tiger golf team competed in the Region 7-AAA tournament last week at Mossy Creek Golf Course in Cleveland. Head Coach Wes Greer's team picked up a fourth place finish.

The Dawson County High School baseball team has qualified for the Class AAA state playoffs as the No. 4 seed from Region 7-AAA.

The Dawson County High School varsity boys soccer team outscored its two opponents 19-1 last week to improve its overall record to 12-2. More importantly, the team is 4-1 in region 7-AAA play.
Team bounces back
Dawson County High School varsity baseball coach Jimmy Pruett breathed a sigh of relief after Saturday's final out against Banks County. His Tigers broke a five game losing streak, by beating the Leopards, 14-0.
