Dawson County fought back from a 9-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat Banks County, 64-58, last week.
"This was a really important win and biggest win of the year," said head coach Thad Burgess. "Our kids were down 9 points in the last quarter and we were able to keep battling and make the plays at the end. We showed great effort and dedication against Banks."
The Lady Tigers basketball team split a couple of games last week. Coach Steve Sweat's team dropped a 60-43 decision to No. 10 ranked in AA, East Hall, but picked up a huge 62-30 win over visiting Fannin County.
The Lady Tigers had a tough task against East Hall. The Lady Vikings have two players that have already signed to play college basketball next season.
Coach Thad Burgess' varsity boys basketball team notched its first Region 8A-AA win of the season Friday against Fannin County. The Tigers outscored the visiting Rebels 55-17 in front of a huge crowd in Dawsonville.
The Tigers placed three players in double figures, led by Jackson Putnam with a game-high 11 points. Jonathan Sanderson and Tyler Dominy scored 10 points apiece in the 38-point win.
