Ladies remain undefeated

The fourth-ranked, Class AAA, Lady Tiger soccer team is currently 7-0 on the season after defeating three teams in Jekyll Island over the weekend. Head coach Jed Lacey's team dominated Cedar Shoals, Aquinas and Richmond Academy.

Boys take tourney

The Dawson County boys soccer team traveled to Jekyll Island over the weekend and proved why it is ranked No. 4 in Class AAA. The Tigers didn't give up a goal as the team defeated Cedar Shoals, 3-0, Brunswick, 5-0 and Richmond Academy, 6-0, at the Tournament of Champions event.

On the right track

The Dawson County track team picked up two huge wins last week with a tri-match against Forsyth Central and Fannin County in Dawsonville. The Lady Tigers scored 101 points to capture first place. Central tallied 35 points and Fannin scored 25 points.

Tiger receives ‘Blue Collar’ award

Dawson County High School football player Zack Martin was one of 10 players in the state of Georgia to receive the NAPA Auto Parts/Larry Csonka "Blue Collar Player of the Year" award. Lady Tigers reflect on the season

Despite a hard-fought loss Saturday, the Dawson County High School Lady Tigers returned to Dawsonville with their heads held high, proud of their second-place finish and knowing they gave it their all. Senior Kenna Seitz described the season, which ended with Saturday's 77-55 loss to St. Pius X in the state Class AAA championship, as a "Cinderella story that almost came true."

Ladies runners-up

MACON - Playing in their first state championship game since 1991, the Dawson County High girls came up on the short end of a 77-55 decision to St. Pius X in the Class AAA state championship game on Saturday at the Macon Centreplex. The Golden Lions from Region 6-AAA jumped out to an 11-1 lead before Dawson County rallied behind the play of post player Ashley Parker.

Gilreath Player of the Year

Region 7-AAA selected its All-Region team last week. The team, voted on by coaches, chose Ebo Smith from North Hall and Carly Gilreath from Dawson County as Player-of-the-Year recipients. Selected for the girls' first team were Gilreath, Lady Tiger teammate Sheyenne Seabolt, Buford players Kristina Nelson, Maya Dillard, and Mackenzie Darrah and Taylor Kennedy from Banks County.

Boys team ranked No. 3

The Dawson County High School varsity boys soccer team remained undefeated last week following a 6-0 smashing of Jackson County High School March 12 in Jefferson. The Tigers, currently ranked No. 3 in Class AAA, have a 4-0 record for the season.
