The Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center, which serves the health care needs of 14,000 uninsured and underinsured residents in Pickens, Cherokee and Dawson counties, will receive a $50,000 grant from Kaiser Permanente of Georgia.
With the public comment period over, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is looking at completing within two years a document that will govern water usage in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River basin.

The community is invited to a celebration of trees Friday afternoon at War Hill Park on Lake Lanier.
The Dawson County Tree Preservation Committee, in conjunction with Keep Dawson County Beautiful and the local extension agency, will meet at 2 p.m. in honor of Arbor Day, held in Georgia on the third week of February each year.
Crews were still moving downed trees from roadways and responding to weather-related incidents Tuesday afternoon, more than 12 hours after Mother Nature dumped at least a an estimated half inch of ice across Dawson County.
"Stay at home and off the roads unless it's an emergency," was the common request among first responders as early as noon Monday.
