The month of June is a time of evaluation for Head Coach Thad Burgess and his basketball team. Despite getting off to a slow start at Buford High School at the beginning of the month,his team finished strong at Birmingham-Southern University in Alabama.
The Dawson County Park and Recreation Department will hold fall baseball, softball and T-ball registration until Aug. 10. The cost to register is $60 for Dawson County residents and $80 for non-residents.
Charley Whitmire and Wesley Bearden, Dawson County High School golfers, competed in yesterday's Atlanta Junior Golf tournament held at Chestatee Golf Club. Whitmire teed off at noon, while Bearden began his play at 10:10 a.m.
During a time when most high school students are enjoying the pool and their time off from studies, the Dawson County High School cross country team is putting in several miles a day in anticipation of the upcoming season.
The Dawson County High School football staff is offering a six-week training program for middle school athletes that will include an introduction to the Dawson County offense, defense and special teams, Tiger training regimen and modern speed, power and agility training. The program is designed for upcoming seventh and eighth graders.
