Head Coach Nichole Green's eighth grade Lady Tiger basketball team made it to the Mountain League Championship semi-finals before being eliminated by Fannin County Middle School last Friday night.The Lady Tigers began the tournament, held in Pickens County, with a close 34-29 win over Union County Middle School. Dawson County has a strangle hold over Union County. The Tigers defeated Union for the ninth consecutive time last Friday night in Blairsville. Behind the great offensive performance by Stephen Scaife and Tyler Dominy, with 26 and 25 points respectively, the Tigers captured a 66-46 win over their archrivals Union County.
The Dawson County High School junior varsity boys basketball team won its second game in a row with a 40-34 win over Riverside Military Academy on Monday. Head Coach Wes Greer's team now stands at 7-6 on the season.
It was a tough week for the Dawson County Lady Tiger varsity basketball team. Head Coach Steve Sweat's team played two top-10 ranked AA opponents in Rabun County, No. 3, and North Oconee, No. 10. To make matters worse, both games were long road trips.
