Tigers defeat East Jackson

You couldn't have wished for a better start to 2009 according to Dawson County High School Head Boy's Basketball Coach Thad Burgess. His Tiger basketball team jumped right into the second half of their season with three big wins last week.

DCMS 8th grade Tigers win a close one

It was ugly, but the Dawson County Middle School eighth grade boys' basketball team came away with a narrow 23-21 victory over host Pickens County Middle School last Wednesday, Jan. 7. With the win, Dawson currenlty has a 5-4 record.

Dawson middle seventh grade girls defeat Pickens

The Dawson County Middle School seventh grade girls' basketball team defeated Pickens County Middle School 23-17 last Thursday, Jan. 8. Emily Ayers led the Lady Tigers with 8 points for the contest.

Amicalola Classic a huge success

The 26th annual Amicalola Classic wrestling tournament finished this past weekend. The tournament is arguably the best wrestling event in Georgia and last Friday and Saturday justified the reasoning.

Tiger grapplers split Stephens, Banks

The Dawson County High School wrestling team traveled to White County for a match with the Warriors, Stephens County and Banks County Tuesday, Dec. 16. The Tigers defeated Stephens County by a huge margin, 66-18, before dropping a 47-27 decision to the Leopards from Banks County.

Wrestlers win four matches at duals

It was a fantastic week for Dawson County High School wrestling. The Tigers won four of five matches at the Fannin County Duals in Blue Ridge last Saturday, Dec. 20. The lone loss came at the hands of East Jackson, 54-15.

Amicalola Classic begins this weekend

One of the most prestigious wrestling tournaments in Georgia will begin this weekend at the Ford E. Phillips Center. The Amicalola Wrestling Classic will be held for the 26th year at Dawson County High School Friday and Saturday, Jan. 2 and Jan 3.

The Class AAA No. 4 ranked Lady Tiger soccer team picked up two big wins last week. Dawson County defeated Lakeview Academy, 7-0, on April 10, and followed with a big 5-0 Region 7-AAA win over East Hall on Friday.

Team splits two games

Dawson County High School varsity boys soccer coach Jed Lacey's team played two nail biters last week. The Tigers defeated Lakeview Academy, 3-2, on a goal with only four seconds remaining in the match and lost to East Hall, 1-0, after two overtimes and 11 rounds of penalty kicks.
