Dawson County held a tri-match Jan. 29 with Forsyth Central and Riverside Military Academy. The Tigers were victorious and defeated Central, 51-21, and Riverside, 51-27. With the two wins Coach Arron Haynes' squad improved to 34-8 this season. This is the second most wins in school history.
Last week got off to a great start for the Dawson County Lady Tiger varsity basketball team. The Lady Tigers defeated visiting East Hall on Jan. 28 by a 64-50 score. The game was a makeup game due to bad weather the week before.
Dawson County High School varsity boys basketball team won two of three games last week. The Tigers, led by Thad Burgess, defeated East Hall, 60-49, on Jan. 28 and Banks County, 44-30, on Jan. 29, before dropping a 52-38 decision to a very tough Buford team on Friday.
The Dawson County High School varsity Tiger wrestling team hosted a tri-match with Gainesville and Lumpkin County last week. The Tigers, led by coach Arron Haynes, were victorious over Gainesville, 60-16, but dropped a 46-21 decision to the Indians at the Jan. 22 event.
The Dawson County Lady Tiger basketball team is on fire. Head Coach Steve Sweat's squad pulled out a 66-52 win at White County on Jan. 22.

The Riverview Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team won a big game against Pickens County Middle School last week by a 20-11 score. Despite the low scoring game, 8-5 at halftime, the Lady Eagles' work ethic prevailed to come away with the nine-point win.
The Riverview Middle School eighth grade Eagles' basketball team played an exciting game against Pickens County Middle School Jan. 18 at home. Despite a spirited effort, the Eagles came up on the short end of a 28-27 defeat.
The Riverview Middle School seventh grade boys' basketball team moved to a perfect 11-0 with two Mountain League wins. On Jan. 18 the Eagles hosted a good team from Pickens County Middle School.
The Class AAA No. 8-ranked Dawson County Lady Tigers won three games last week. Coach Steve Sweat's team improved its record to 17-2 with wins over West Hall, Fannin County and Rabun County.
After losing back to back games against state-ranked Region 7-AAA teams, Buford and North Hall, the Tigers bounced back last week to win three games. More importantly for the Tigers, two of the teams' opponents, West Hall and Fannin County, are region foes.
The Dawson County High School junior varsity girls basketball team remains undefeated following a 31-19 win over Fannin County on Friday. Coach Anne Hyams' team is currently 12-0 on the season.
