Senior Tiger football player Bruce Clark will enter his final year as a player at Dawson County High School this season. Clark has had an illustrious career at the school for head coach Jeff Lee.

Last year Clark had a tremendous year for the Tigers. He recorded 53 catches for 637 yards and 10 touchdowns. It was also notable that he had only one drop during the 10-game season.

Following his performance, Clark was named second team All-Area by The Times of Gainesville.

Clark recently spoke with the Dawson Community News about the upcoming season.

Question: What does it feel like to be in your senior year?

Answer: It's pretty good. I have been really looking forward to this year. It's going to be a big year for us hopefully.

Q. How do you build on last year's success?

A. We have been building as a team every year. It started off rough our freshman year. It has just gotten better progressively. Now we have a really good group of seniors on this team. It's really looking good for us.

Q. What do you think about playing some defense this year?

A. Finally. I have always looked forward to playing defense and I'm pretty excited about that. I think Coach [Jed] Lacey (defensive coordinator) will have me playing some free safety and hopefully getting to play some defensive end a little bit. Just can't wait to see what I can do down there. It's fun playing defensive end.

Q. Are you planning on playing football in college?

A. I plan on playing somewhere in football. I have been to Furman, Citadel and Mercer. [I am] going back to Georgia Tech and Charleston Southern in July.

Q. What is your role as a senior in terms of leadership?

A. We have to do a lot of leading by example here. We have got a lot of young guys coming up that are going to have to carry this program on for us.

Clark and his Tiger teammates will try to better a 5-5 record from last season.

Dawson County began conditioning again on Monday.

The skill position players attended Presbyterian College early this week, while the linemen remained at the high school for weightlifting, conditioning and agilities.
