Tigers program goes to Ala.

POSTED: June 26, 2012 4:00 p.m.

The Dawson County High School boys basketball team attended a team camp at Birmingham-Southern College on June 18-19.

Burgess' team is currently on a 19-game winning streak this summer.

The team has also participated in team camps at Berry College and the University of Georgia.

"I just enjoy watching this group compete. No matter who we play, and the score, they all play. Even the day when we played nine games in one and a half days in Birmingham and left Dawsonville at 6 a.m., they refuse to lose and always play hard," Burgess said.

The team has been playing some stiff competition from schools that are much bigger than Dawson County.

"We are beating a combination of higher classifications. They [the team] seem to enjoy playing and beating teams from AAAAA and AAAAAA schools. They expect to win and they play like that," Burgess said.

Dawson County has been getting great leadership from Will Anglin, and great play from Tyler Dominy, Gunnar Armstrong and Lucas Pain.

The return of point guard Jonathan Sanderson has been a big spark for the team. Sanderson is returning after a month layoff following an injury to his ankle.

"We need to gain some depth and see competition from the remaining players over the next week," Burgess said.

The team will play in a camp at Fellowship Christian this week before winding up the summer with a camp at Auburn University.
