Racers kick off season

The Dawsonville Racer swim team competed in a meet in Habersham County on Saturday.

The girls' team had a strong showing and finished in fifth place out of nine teams.

The Racer girls amassed 554 points. Taking first place were the Jefferson Sea Dragons with 1,529 points.

The boys' team also did well and finished with 255 points.

Winning first place on the boys' side were the Brad Akins YMCA Barracudas with 1,910 points.

"I thought the team did a great job on Saturday," said head coach Stephanie Morgan.

The team will have three meets this week.

Today the Racers will compete against Chattahoochee Country Club in Gainesville.

Thursday the team will take on Cornerstone School in Cumming.

Saturday's meet will be the North Georgia Swim League Invitational in Dacula.
