Dawson County athletes were recently recognized as track and field elite in North Georgia.

Lady Tiger Hayden Wilson was named First Team All-Area by the Times of Gainesville last week. Lady Tigers Gracie Hovan, Kimberly Wallace and Kristy Martin were named to the honorable mention team.

Wilson finished third in Region 8-AA in the shot put and fifth at the State Track in Albany in May.

She also threw 113-9 at the State Meet breaking the school record for Dawson County.

West Hall head coach and former Dawson County teacher Cindy Herford was named track and field Coach-of-the-Year.

Dawson County Tiger Cory Jenkins was also named honorable mention All-Area by The Times.

Jenkins, a junior, was a standout on Coach Arron Haynes’ team at Dawson County.
