ASK THE EXPERTS

Celebrity waiter breakfast Friday

POSTED: June 6, 2012 4:00 a.m.

Tickets are going fast for the third annual Family Connection Celebrity Breakfast on Friday at Longhorn in Dawsonville.

"This is always the best breakfast in town," said Family Connection Director Nancy Stites.

Proceeds from the event benefit the group's many local initiatives such as its annual book bag drive, summer children's food program and Dawson Against Substance Abuse.

In recent months, Family Connection has focused on parents with young children in an effort to improve kindergarten readiness.

"We're proud to partner with the library that recently started the Booker Mobile to get books to young children that maybe couldn't get to the library because of transportation issues," Stites said.

The library's mascot Booker, along with a juggler and a singing quartet, is scheduled to make appearances and entertain the breakfast crowd, while local "celebrity" waiters serve drinks and clear tables.

The buffet breakfast is $10 per person and will be available from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. for dine in, carry out and delivery along the Ga. 400 corridor.

Tickets are available the morning of the event and at the Family Connection office at 189 Hwy. 53 West, Suite 105. Tickets can also be purchased from Family Connection board members.
