Caldwell named to second team

Lady Tiger golfer Madison Caldwell was named Second Team All-Area by The Times of Gainesville last week.

Caldwell, a Dawson County High School freshman, placed third in the Region 8-AA tournament.

At the Region 8-AA tournament, held at Scales Creek in Homer, Caldwell led Dawson County with an 84. It was good enough to be the third lowest round at the event.

Joining Caldwell on the second team were: Aly Hicks (Buford), Jodi Samples (White County) and Lauren Smith (Johnson).

Named golfer-of-the-year was Madeline Harr from Gainesville High School.

Harr was the Region 8-AAA champion this past season.

Also on the first team were: Meg Callahan (Gainesville), Cara Gowder (Banks County) and Morgan Reece (Gainesville).

Selected honorable mention were: Anna Alexander (Jefferson), Beth Bates (Jackson County), Ashley Blackburn (Habersham Central), Hanna Chapman (Jefferson), Olivia Davis (West Hall), Jessie Edgy (North Hall), Brittan Slaton (White County), Malorie Smith (West Hall) and Morgan Wood (Lumpkin County).
