Girls’ team celebrates year’s end

The Dawson County Lady Tiger soccer team held its year end banquet on May 21 at the Dawsonville Municipal Complex.

Coach Jed Lacey's team had a remarkable year.

The Lady Tigers had a 16-3 overall record. The team was ranked as high as No. 3 in the state at one point during the season.

The team was the Region 8-AA champions and reached the Elite Eight before being eliminated from post season play by Greater Atlanta Christian.

There were five seniors on this year's team: Morgan Collett, Carissa Perez, Emily Stowers, Morgan Huber and Brooke Shively.

The awards ceremony was kicked off by a welcome by athletic director Grady Turner.

Junior varsity and varsity awards were presented by assistant coach Chess Hamby and by Lacey.

Winning this year's awards were: Rising Tiger (JV Award) - Sara Bywaletz; Best Support - Anela Melton, Kenna Seitz; Taylor Bennett; Offensive - McKay Shively; Defensive - Morgan Huber; Coach's Award - Brittany Duffy, Brooke Shively; Iron Tiger - Jade Perry; and Golden Boot (MVP) - Emily Stowers.

Members of this year's team, in addition to the seniors, were: Juniors - Allie Costley, Brittany Duffy, Jade Perry, Lauren Dare, Stephanie Lefler and Kenna Seitz. Sophomores - Rebecca Blythe, Morgan Callas, Riley Cox, Brooke Duffy, Suzanne Eckert, Sara Grogan, Megan Powell and Riley Prince. Freshmen - Summer Armstrong, Taylor Bennett, Kaila Burt, Sara Bywaletz, Maddie Contreras, Rosalee Gaddis, Anna Hawkins, Samantha Keeney, Anela Melton, Meghan Picklesimer, Summer Sanders, McKay Shively and Emily Stapler.
Managers were Kaylin Miller, Paige Reese and Peyton Louden.
