Joanne Carol Fowler, 73, of Dahlonega, died May 12, 2012.

Born in San Diego, Calif. she was the daughter of the late Ole and Elizabeth Jensen.

She married Jack Fowler in 1961 in Gulfport, Miss.

She retired as an RN in 2003 and had lived in Dahlonega for 14 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Michael J. and Robin Leigh Fowler of Fayetteville, Calif., Jacqueline and Paul Anderson of Dahlonega, Keith Fowler of Athens; brother, Fred and Renee Brooks of Flower Mound, Texas; six grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, or the American Lung Association, www.lung.org.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
