Lonnie D. Jones

Lonnie D. Jones, 78, of Dawsonville, died April 20, 2012.

Born June 2, 1933 in Lumpkin County to the late Pool and Edna Jones, he lived all his life in Lumpkin and Dawson counties.

Mr. Jones was formerly employed at Pine Tree and worked in various areas of the poultry industry. He enjoyed fishing, beekeeping and raising chickens. Lonnie was a deacon at Mill Creek Baptist Church.

His sisters, Jeannie Burt, Margie Saine; and brothers, Lee Jones and Carlton Ash, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Greenway Jones of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Pennie and Lloyd Fowler of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Hailey Fowler, Adam Fowler; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred Gaddis, Ruby and Jerry Barron, all of Dawsonville, Janet and Gary Pendergrass of Gainesville, Roy Saine of Dahlonega; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd "Bug" and Christine Jones, Cecil Jones, Boyd "Bo" and Ruth Jones, Kathryn Jones, all of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 23 at Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Rodney Pilcher and Tom Stradley officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
