Finally, the Tiger bats came alive. Dawson County exploded for 16 hits and 15 runs in a 15-8 win over Fannin County on Friday.

The win ended a four game losing streak for Dawson in which the team scored only 13 runs in those games.

More importantly, the win was a much needed region victory.

The Tigers are currently 6-6 overall and 3-5 in Region 8A-AA play.

It was a long and grueling 3-game series with the Rebels.

On March 27, the team dropped a 5-4 decision to Fannin. Tuesday's game was originally scheduled to be played in Blue Ridge, but the game was moved to Dawsonville.

Hunter Wehunt and Colton Chester both connected for homeruns and 2 RBIs each, but it wasn't enough.

Wednesday, the Rebels scored 10 second inning runs to pound out a 15-9 win over the Tigers. The Tigers managed 11 hits and 7 runs over the last two innings, but just couldn't pull ahead of the Rebels in the away game.

Levi Whitmire, Scott Parker and David Chester each had two hits for the Tigers to lead the offensive attack.

Chester also hit a long homerun in the second inning.

On Friday, both teams traded leads through the first 5 innings.

Under threatening skies, Dawson erupted for 7 runs in the sixth inning to break an 8-8 tie.

Hits in the inning by Harley Pruitt, Wehunt, Tyler Thurmond and Mitchell Putnam broke the game open.

Offensive standouts on Friday were: David Chester, Whitmire and Tyler Thurmond with three hits each.

Chester and Whitmire also collected three RBIs each. Pruitt also had two hits and an RBI.

It was also senior night on Friday. Coach Jimmy Pruett honored five seniors and their parents before the game.

This year's Tiger seniors are: Scott Parker, Alec Pearson, Tyler Thurmond, Preston Adams and Gavin Wilson.

The Tigers will play a doubleheader at 3 p.m. today at home against East Hall.
