Council to honor players

POSTED: March 7, 2012 4:00 a.m.

The Dawson County High School Varsity basketball team's historic season will be celebrated locally next week.

The Dawsonville City Council plans to honor the team with a dinner at the Ga. Racing Hall of Fame at 5:30 Tuesday.

The dinner will be followed by a meet and greet for the community to congratulate the team.

Mayor Pro-tem James Grogan said the Tigers accomplished a feat that has remained untouched for more than four decades with their trip to the Elite Eight last Friday.

"We want the community to come out and join us in telling them how proud we all are of them," he said.

Councilman Calvin Byrd said the team will be presented with a proclamation during the event.
