Thanks to the community

POSTED: March 7, 2012 4:00 a.m.

Thank you to the Dawson County community from the Dawson County basketball team

I do not know how I can put into words how special this community has been to our basketball team and coaches over the last two weeks.

The wins over Elbert County, Jefferson, Calhoun and Buford to make it to the final eight do not compare to the unbelievable backing and sincere community pride that has been shown.

From the student body, parents, administration, faculty, staff and all the wonderful people who call this community their home, the kind words and following gave our 10 outstanding young men an inner sense of pride to represent us all.

To all of you that have called, sent text messages, written letters and spoke of this team, it did make a difference.

And so many more that I have walked by or seen at the games, and did not have the chance to express my gratitude, I promise you that I know how much you cared for this team.

We are very sorry that less than 1 second kept us from making the Final 4 in Macon for all of you, and know how badly we all wanted that.

However, the memories and the compassion from each of you, will be something that will remain with us all and make us all better.

It was so nice to let all the other communities throughout this state, see what we have here.

This team was very fortunate to be a part of this, and we could never express how much we appreciate what you did for us.

Thank you again to all the wonderful people in our proud community.
