Head Coach Jed Lacey's boys soccer team played two quality opponents last week. The team competed against White County and North Hall.

The team defeated White County 3-0, before falling to North Hall 2-0.

On Feb. 21, Dawson opened up a 2-0 lead at halftime against White on goals by Brandon Lund and Sam Wentworth.

The Tigers added another goal by Lund in the second half to take the win.

Tigers sophomore goalie Brooks Fulford picked up his second shutout of the season.

"We played well tonight. Freshman Brandon Lund stepped up big for us with all the injuries we are going through. Brandon is such a great player at such a young age," Lacey said.

"Defensively we are looking great after the mess we were in at Buford. The defense, made up of Cody Hall, Stanton Rogers, Drew Bishop and Ben Leaver, came to prove a point that they were better than the last game and they did. Our speed is so good that other teams have a hard time getting behind them. Brooks did a great job in goal and Sam Wentworth got his first goal of the year,"he added.

North Hall (2-0-1) came to Dawsonville on Friday for a big game with the Tigers.

It was a defensive battle in the first half as neither team scored a goal.

The Trojans scored the game's first goal with 19:18 remaining and added another with just 2:10 to go in the game to take the win.

"What a great team North Hall is. That is the reason we play the teams we do. If we can play with great [Class] AAA teams we will do fine in [Class] AA. That is one of the best teams I have seen in a while. They play good, aggressive soccer," Lacey said.

"Junior Talal Hamodi did an outstanding job at center mid. He has played two games in a row for 80 minutes straight with no breaks. That kid is a champ, he wants to win and does not want to come out."

The Tigers are now 2-2 on the season and will play next at 7 p.m. Friday at Stephens County.
