ASK THE EXPERTS

Middle schoolers break record

POSTED: February 21, 2012 4:58 p.m.

The Riverview Middle School Lady Eagle's soccer team defeated Clear Creek, 6-0, last week.

With the win the team has won 22-straight games, more than any other team, in any sport, in Dawson County history.

The team has not lost a game since March 31, 2009.

Head coach John Lundy's team is also two-time defending Mountain League Champions.

Scoring for the Lady Eagles against Clear Creek were: Emily Queen, Kathryn Ryerse and Isabella Elliot.

"Offensively, seventh grader Kathryn Ryerse did a wonderful job in her first middle school game, scoring three goals. Emily Queen also looked great, getting the scoring started with a penalty kick," Lundy said.

"I thought the girls did an excellent job and I'm proud of their hustle from beginning to end," Lundy said. "On defense, Tina Libao and Mckenzie Rhodes did a great job keeping the ball away from our goal."

The team will travel Thursday to face cross county rival Dawson Middle. Kickoff is set for 4:15 p.m.

"We will play a tough Dawson team on Thursday, but I am very happy with a big win to start the season," Lundy said.

Members of this year's team include: Queen, Laura Anne Branson, Elliot, Kelly Morris, Madison Callas, Rhodes, Libao, MaKenzie Callas, Isabel Queen, Ryerse, Heather Brady, Anneka Byers, Allison Gilbert, Ava Walker, Melanie Rimawi, and Taylor Anglin.
