Mary G. Reed

Mary G. Reed, 92, of Dawsonville, died Feb. 10, 2012.

Born May 1, 1919, in Phoenix, Ariz. to the late John and Ora Disharoon, she moved to Dawson County at the age of three, where she lived the remainder of her life.

Mrs. Reed was a homemaker and a member of Juno Baptist Church.

Her husband of 62 years, Vester Reed; sister, Ophie Dodd; and brothers, Clyde Disharoon and Hoyt Disharoon, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Lavonia and David Fields, Ruby and Tommy Chumley, James "Buddy" Reed, all of Dawsonville, Edwin and Donna Reed of Dahlonega; sister, Louise Vaughters of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Oletta Disharoon of Dawsonville; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dennis Bottoms and Tommy Weldy officiating. Interment followed in the Juno Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested to help with final expenses.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
