The Dawson County 11-12 Cheerleaders recently competed in the NGYFA-Cheer Expo in White County and left as champions.

Every bow was in place and everyone had on bright smiles. The energy that the young ladies displayed was even more evident in their newest team members: a few of the football players from the 11-12 Tiger football team returned the favor for all the games the girls cheered for them, by helping the young ladies with a stunt and a few moves of their own.

It is not very often that you see football players volunteering to be cheerleaders.

Coaches Kim Hunsucker and Sarah Anglin saw the reward for all the hard work the team put in. Endless hours of practice and repeated routines paid off as the team became unified in motions, dance and cheers.

“We are so proud of them. They deserve it. They put in many hours of practice, not to mention this team cheered for not one, but three teams this year. And for the boys, a great big thanks for helping out,” said Hunsucker and Anglin.

The stands were full of people from Dawson County, who came out to support the squad.

There were loud roars when the “Tigers” performed and even more noise when the entire team and coaches accepted their first place trophy.
