Irma Summerour

Irma Summerour, 94, of Dawsonville, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008.

  

Mrs. Summerour was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

  

A homemaker, she was a devoted mother and in her earlier years was active in the community.

  

She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Henry Clay Summerour, Sr. and was very supportive of him during his years as a state legislature and mayor of Dawsonville.

  

Also preceding her in death were five children, John L. Summerour, Frank Summerour, Douglas Summerour, Juanita Wood, Mary Carol Crimes; parents, Harley and Cora Seay; brother, Hoy Seay.

  

Survivors include her children, Leta Jones of Birmingham, Ala., Henry Clay, Jr. and Renae Summerour of Waring, Texas, Susie Coleman, Barbara and Ted Huffstetler, all of Dawsonville, Russell and Cheryl Summerour of Hartwell, Nona Summerour of Olympia, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joey Gilbert officiating.

  

Interment followed in the Dawsonville City Cemetery.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
