ASK THE EXPERTS

Event bigger, better

POSTED: December 21, 2011 4:00 a.m.

I wanted to thank everyone involved who helped make the third annual Taste of Dawson High at the Dawson County High School on Dec. 10 an even bigger and better event.

I could not have pulled this event off without thanking the following PTSO board members who helped make the event possible: Jon and Laurie Erickson, Alaina Jones, Katrina Lund, Kim Glaze, Michelle Matthews and Robyn Dunn.

Secondly, I wanted to thank all of the restaurants for their participation and food donation to the event.

The food was outstanding and I thank them very much for donating their food, time and staff to make this event a huge success.

I want to also thank the sponsors and vendors who donated and sold their products.

The event brought in more than $2,000, which in turn, after taking out expenses and paying the participating clubs for their baskets, our organization will be able to hand out two $500 scholarships to two high school graduating PTSO seniors in May 2012.

In addition, we will make a deposit of $300 to the Indigenous Account/Student Activity Account at the school.

I need to thank the JROTC for volunteering at the event. The JROTC cadets helped both with set up and break down. They were very instrumental in the event.

Lastly, I would like to thank Dr. Jute Wilson for his help and support during the event. He was very patient and supportive during the planning, execution and delivery of the day's event. I could not have pulled it off without his help; his wonderful staff/teachers and the use of the high school.

Thank you all for making this year's taste even better than the last two. I hope you will go out and support these local businesses and entrepreneurs as they have our local high school.

Without their support, this event would not have been possible. Merry Christmas and God bless.

Karen Armstrong
High School PTSO President
