Shirley Louise Ballew, 77, of Dawsonville, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008.

  

Born on Wiscasset Island, Maine, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 5 years, having moved from Cherokee County.

  

A homemaker, Mrs. Ballew had an affectionate love of animals and she formerly taught English and Western equine riding techniques. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dahlonega Ward and was preceded in death by her parents, James and Violet Apt; brother, James Andrew Apt.

  

Survivors include her husband, Tom Ballew of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, RoseAnn and Randy Cantrell of Dawsonville; grandson, Randy Lane Cantrell; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dahlonega Ward. Bishop Eric Pennington will officiate.

  

Interment will follow in Macedonia Memorial Park.

  Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
