The Lady Tigers fell behind 11-0 before rallying and almost beating North Forsyth in a scrimmage game last week at Dawson County High School.

Dawson lost the Nov. 10 contest 54-51 in a gritty effort against the much bigger school.

The scrimmage was the last tune up for both teams before starting the season.

Dawson fought back to trail 30-29 at halftime behind the shooting of junior Carly Gilreath.

Gilreath finished the game with a team-high 20 points.

It looked like North Forsyth was going to run away with the game in the third quarter after the Lady Raiders extended their lead to 45-34, but Dawson wouldn't go away.

The Lady Tigers used some full court pressure to close the gap to 3 points but couldn't get any closer.

"We played pretty good in a tough fought loss to AAAAA North Forsyth," said head coach Steve Sweat. "Two times we got behind by 11 points and fought back to tie the score. We had way too many wasted possessions because of turnovers. We shot free throws really good down the stretch, making seven of nine in the fourth quarter."

Entering the scoring column for Dawson County were: Sheyenne Seabolt, 9 points, Allie Costley and Kacie Bearden with 7 points each, Morgan Huber, 5 points, Kimberly Wallace, 2 points and Hannah Porter contributed 1 point.

Huber had a good night on defense for the Lady Tigers. She recorded six steals and three rebounds for her team.

The Lady Tigers opened the 2011-2012 season with a game against Tallulah Falls Tuesday.

Results were not available as of press time.

Dawson will play at 6 p.m. Saturday against Towns County at home.
