Authorities are trying to determine just how long a theft suspect had been living at a former Dawsonville family fun park.

Paul Henry Moran, 19, was arrested Friday night at Christ Fellowship Church after employees reported finding a door that leads to the adjacent family fun center propped open with a golf putter.

The center, which once housed a mini-golf course, go-cart track, bowling alley and video games, was a church ministry before it closed several years ago.

Dawson County Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten said Moran could have been squatting at the center for weeks.

"We're not sure how long he had been there, but employees said they last checked out the center about two weeks ago," he said.

Moran has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, second-degree criminal damage to property and a drug court violation. He is being held without bond at the Dawson County jail.

According to Wooten, there were two mattresses, a flat screen TV from the church and a cooler inside a makeshift room of stacked tires at the center.

Two swords and a pornographic DVD were also found, as well as candy reportedly removed from the church.

"It's sad that someone would take advantage of the church, including taking candy that is there for festivals they have for kids," Wooten said.

Two other people were arrested along with Moran, though Wooten said neither of them was staying at the center.

Austin Derrick Lucas, 18, of Dawsonville and Jenna Marie Margo, 19, of Cumming were each charged with criminal trespass and loitering.

According to Wooten, Moran told deputies "the other two were just there with him."

Investigators are looking at items recovered in the former business to see if they match up with other thefts in the area.

"We're going to see if this group could be related to those crimes as well," Wooten said.
