Hospital gives to elevator fund

POSTED: August 3, 2011 4:00 a.m.

Northside Hospital-Forsyth Administrator Lynn Jackson, on behalf of the hospital, recently presented Dawson County Senior Center Director Margie Weaver with a check for $1,000 to benefit the center's elevator fund.

"I am very thankful to Northside Forsyth for the donation," Weaver said. "Just over $38,000 has been contributed so far with another $22,000 needed to fund the project.

"Every donation is making the elevator a possibility."

The two-story facility currently has no elevator. Clients not capable of using the stairs are either unable to participate in the activities held on the lower level or must have a staff member walk or drive them around the outside of the building.

Generous individuals and organizations have helped the center make it past the halfway mark.

More fundraisers, including the annual pheasant shoot in December, are planned to help the center reach its goal.

For more information on how to help, contact Weaver at (706) 344-3700.
