Several firearms reportedly stolen in late June were recovered last week during a search of a home off War Hill Park Road.

Investigators also found jewelry taken in the same theft case at a local jewelry store, according to Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten.

"We're still finding some of the jewelry that has been sold or pawned," he said.

Garrett Alexander Jasper Ashworth, 23, of Dawsonville was arrested July 13 on six counts of theft by receiving stolen property for the firearms.

He also faces four counts of receiving stolen property for jewelry, hunting bows and an airsoft gun found during the investigation.

Nine of the charges are felonies.

The items were taken last month from a home on Nix Bridge Road.

Authorities said Ashworth was familiar with that residence, though they did not elaborate on his relationship to the homeowners.

Ashworth, who was released Monday after posting a $50,200 bond, could face additional charges, Wooten said.

"Our officers also recovered two other firearms that were reportedly stolen during another burglary in Dawson County off War Hill Park Road," Wooten said. "That investigation is ongoing."
