Dawson Community News welcomes Morgan Bennett as the paper's editorial intern for the summer.

A 2011 Dawson County High School graduate, Bennett, 18, said the internship is an excellent opportunity to get more involved and to learn more about her community.

"Also with this being my first job, it's teaching me how to be more responsible, which is a good thing to learn before going into college," she said.

Bennett plans to attend Gainesville State College and later transfer to North Georgia College & State University.

The Dawson County native attends The Harbor Worship Center in Dawsonville and is active in the local community.

She is currently the reigning Miss KARE for Kids.

"I really enjoy volunteering with KARE for Kids. I think it's a good organization that helps kids in Dawsonville," she said. "I feel like I'm actually helping people."

Bennett is the daughter of Tim and Kim Bennett. She also has two younger brothers, Mason, 15, and Matthew, who is 6.

Dawson Community News is one of 22 newspapers across the state selected to participate in the Georgia Press Association's internship program this summer.
