ASK THE EXPERTS

A look ahead

Game #9, vs. East Jackson, away, Oct. 31

POSTED: November 9, 2008 5:00 a.m.

East Jackson High School Head Football Coach Frank Caputo has done an outstanding job with his East Jackson team.

Last season the Eagles finished with a 5-5 record in their first year of existence.

This year is the team’s first year in region competition and they should be very competitive.

The Eagles have team speed and are big. Caputo should dress out somewhere between 75-90 boys and they are very impressive.

Quarterback could be a problem for East Jackson. Running back will definitely not be a problem. Returning is Robby King, last year’s leading rusher, and Standrick Stevens, who has blinding speed.

Nine players returned on a strong defensive team.

Even though East Jackson may dress out 90 players, depth will be a problem on both sides of the ball.  East Jackson is currently 2-6 on the season after a 3-0 loss to North Oconee last Friday.

Prediction: It’s Halloween and a full moon, be careful. All the ghouls and goblins will be out for this one. Don’t overlook the Eagles. Team speed will be a problem for Dawson County Coach Van Samples’ defense. Plus, the Tigers will have to get on a bus and travel to Commerce, an hour and a half ride.

This could be an upset if Dawson thinks about all the candy they will receive when they get home. This is a tough one to call, but I will stick my neck out for Coach Lee to chop it off.
