Christine Floody

Christine Floody, 66, of Dawsonville, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 following a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer at the Embracing Hospice House.

Chris was born June 17, 1942 in Cortlandt, N.Y., to the late Roger Fay and Beva Fay. She was a member of Brown's Bridge Community Church.

  

Mrs. Floody was a realtor for Keller Williams in Cumming. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Conner James McGrath.

  

Chris had an adventurous childhood, traveling all over the world with her family, calling several different countries "home."

  

She continued her "gypsy life" by living in several states, California, Connecticut, South Carolina, Florida and finally Georgia.

  

She spent her years prior to real estate as an executive secretary and a volunteer for many of her children's numerous activities. She helped where she was needed at school, church, for friends. She was especially fond of her many grandchildren and was there for their numerous events and sharing with them her many talents such as cooking and arts and crafts.

  

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

  

Survivors include her husband of 35-years, William J. Floody, Jr.; daughter, Felicia Strano and her husband, Sebastion and grandchildren, Shannon, Andrew, Madison, Ian and Grace, all of Cumming; son, Kevin Neel and his wife Kim and grandchildren, Hannah, Sam and Anderson, all of Rosemary Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Robin Walker and her husband Randy and grandson Brett, all of Land O Lakes, Fla.; stepson, Kevin Floody and his wife Virginia and grandchildren, Sean, Ryan and Christopher, all of Riverside, Calif.; sister, Leslie Fay of Germany; brother, Ron Fay and his wife Jannie of Encinitas, Calif.; various other relatives also survive.

  

A celebration of her life was held Monday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Cox officiating. Interment followed at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

  

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requested that memorial contributions be made to either Embracing Hospice House in Cumming or to www.pancan.org, the Pancreatic Cancer action network in memory of Chris Floody.

  

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
