Residents should speak up about airport

POSTED: March 9, 2011 9:39 a.m.

I am writing in regards to the development of a ‘regional’ airport in Dawson County.

I for one, am not particularly fond of the idea. I enjoy my “small town” atmosphere and do not want that changed by having a regional airport in Dawson County.

I understand that the city is bringing on this issue, but something of this magnitude will affect the entire county. So, I am urging citizens to get involved and ask for a vote on such a huge change to our beloved county.

Referencing a quote from Rep. Amerson: “My attitude is that it is up to the county and city to do what the people want them to do and unless I see a lot of heartburn (from the local people), I am willing to present it at the state level.

Our elected officials need to respect and do the will of the people

Please do not be like the folks in Washington who seem to ignore and forget who placed them in office.

Again please look out for the majority of residents in Dawson County and not just the ‘select’ few.

OK folks here’s your opportunity to get involved. Below is the information you need to contact your representatives ... Let’s be the voice we need to be.

Representative Amos Amerson, amos.amerson@house.ga.gov.

Representative David Ralston, david.ralston@house.ga.gov.

Senator Steve Gooch at steve.gooch@senate.ga.gov.

I have already sent my e-mail.
