ASK THE EXPERTS

Evans named all-region

Dominy placed on second team

POSTED: March 1, 2011 4:30 p.m.

Jacob Evans was named to the All-Region 8-AA first team. Evans had a great career at Dawson County High School. He scored more than 1,000 points and pulled down more than 500 rebounds.

“Jacob had a great career for us. He was a four-year letterman and a three-year starter. Jacob connected on 165 three-point shots over the last two years. He will be difficult to replace, not to mention the fact that he led us to three straight state playoffs,” said Dawson County High School Head Coach Thad Burgess.

Named to the second team was sophomore Tyler Dominy.

Dominy was the only sophomore named to either team.

“He will be expected to carry us next year,” Burgess said. “He has the potential to be a special player.”

Joining Evans on the first team are: Josh Hampton of East Hall, Jordan Farmer of Fannin County, Dre Perry of East Hall, and Tanner Plemmons of Rabun County.

Plemmons was named “Player of the Year,” for the second consecutive year.

On the second team with Dominy are: Seth Merritt of Union County, Kymon Woods of East Hall, Jeff Scott of Rabun County and Skylar Smith of Union County.
