A Dawsonville woman has been charged in connection with a five-vehicle, chain-reaction wreck that injured three people Thursday afternoon and slowed the evening commute on Ga. 400.

Patricia Bolch, 70, was cited by the Georgia State Patrol for following too closely in the collision, which occurred about 4 p.m. south of Jot Em Down Road.

Trooper Todd Hinson said Bolch was heading north in her Honda Odyssey when she rear-ended a Subaru Tribeca, causing it to graze a Plymouth sedan.

According to Hinson, the Tribeca overturned and reportedly pushed a Chevrolet Equinox into the back of another Subaru sport utility vehicle.

The SUV was driven by an off-duty DeKalb County sheriff’s deputy whose name Hinson did not have.

Forsyth County Fire Capt. Jason Shivers said a man and woman who were in the Tribeca and the driver of the other Subaru were in stable condition when taken to Northside Hospital-Forsyth.

Their names have not been released.

Bob Baker, who was driving the Plymouth, said he was traveling north on Ga. 400 when he heard something behind him.

Checking his rearview mirror, he saw the Tribeca quickly approaching.

Fortunately, Baker was able to turn onto a small road to his right, just before Jot Em Down, and avoid being smashed by the truck.

“For a moment there I thought I was a goner,” he said.
