POSTED: September 28, 2010 4:04 p.m.

The junior varsity boys and girls cross country teams competed at East Jackson High School in the 5K Eagle Run on Sept. 18.

Allie Costley led the girls with a fourth place finish. There were 75 runners in the junior varsity race. The team finished in second place behind Rabun County.

“I saw her conditioning on the track one day for basketball. It took me a couple of weeks to convince her to come out for cross country. She is going to be a fine addition to our girls team,” Head Coach Brian DeRose said about Costley.

Also running for the junior varsity Lady Tigers were Summer Lewis (seventh place), Savannah Estes (13th), Caroline Lee (14th), Katherine Smith (20th), Kaylen Priest (22nd), Miranda Abe (27th), Jessie Parker, Courtney Wittington, Hannah Swafford, Angelica Santillian, Shelby Whitaker, Courtney Blair, Eve Perkins, Riley Robbins and Kamilla Baron.

In the boys junior varsity race, Jake Hafermalz turned in the best time with a 14th place finish. The junior varsity Tigers finished ninth overall as a team.

West Hall won the team title, followed by Habersham Central and Clarke Central.

Other Tigers running the 3.1-mile race were Mason Carr, Harris Day, Craig Butler, Kevin Spillane, Mason Bearden, John Branson, David Pruett, Tony Ramirez and Drew Thompson.
