ASK THE EXPERTS

Lacey named girls’ soccer coach

Will lead both varsity teams

POSTED: September 21, 2010 4:00 p.m.

Head Coach Jed Lacey, current head boys’ soccer coach, has been named the new girls head soccer coach at Dawson County High School. Lacey has had a successful run as boys’ coach at the school with two runs in the state tournament. In his second year the Tigers were in the Sweet 16.

Lacey will replace former girls coach Rick Corwin.

“I was officially named to the position at the last school board meeting,” said Lacey. “I would like to thank our principal, Dr. Wilson, in having the faith to let me coach both soccer teams at the school.”

Soccer runs deep in Lacey’s blood. His daughter, Fallan, is an up and coming goalkeeper with the United Futbol Academy in Cumming. She plays on an under-9 team at the academy.

“She is going to be a big time goalkeeper,” Lacey said. Where ever Lacey travels on a practice field or game field his daughter is by his side soaking in a wealth of information.

Lacey will be joined by Doug Miolen, third year, and George Graves, fourth year, on his coaching staff.

“Both coaches have a lot of knowledge about the game and I feel blessed to have them back. Our players respect them and will listen to what they have to say about the game,” Lacey said.

The Lady Tigers are coming off a 7-7-2 season and a first round state playoff defeat to North Oconee by a 3-0 score.

“I’m really looking forward to working with these girls,” Lacey said. “They are going to get pushed really hard. These players have a goal to reach and we will do our best to get them there.”
