ASK THE EXPERTS

Eagles on the right track

POSTED: August 24, 2010 4:46 p.m.

The Riverview Lady Eagle softball team is playing great. Jeff Compton’s team is currently 2-1 on the season.

In the team’s opening game of the season, the Lady Eagles defeated cross county rival Dawson County, 19-4.

The Lady Eagles then beat visiting Fannin County 8-1 on Aug. 20.

“The players are hitting and making contact from batter one to batter nine. It’s hard to give credit to one player because every player on the team is contributing to the success of the Eagles,” Compton said.

Riverview’s only loss of the season occurred Aug. 17 against Clear Creek. The Lady Eagles fell 3-0. The Lady Eagles put the ball in play 19 of 21 times, but just couldn’t find a hole in the Clear Creek defense.

“Even in this game the girls played fantastic defense we just couldn’t put any hits together,” Compton said. “I am very proud of the way everyone is playing.”

The Riverview team played Dawson County again Aug. 24. Scores were unavailable at press time.

The Lady Eagles will play host to Gilmer County at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
