Locals receive scholarships

POSTED: August 25, 2010 4:00 a.m.

A fast food restaurant chain honored Dawsonville residents Caitlyn Carr and Amelia Ledford last week with scholarships for $1,000 each.

Carr and Ledford, who are both employees of Chick-fil-A in Dawson County, received the awards for hard work at the franchise. The duo are the 12th and 13th employees at the restaurant to be honored.

Carr is studying art education at North Georgia College & State University, while Ledford is working toward a degree in early childhood education at the University of Georgia.

Since Chick-fil-A’s Leadership Scholarship Program began, the chain has awarded scholarships totaling more than $6.1 million in Geogria and more than $26 million nationally.

Each scholarship helps support the higher education goals of restaurant team members who have attended more than 2,400 educational institutions across the country.
